Jars Advocacy: Championing Mental Wellness Across Africa
Jars Education Group's Advocacy segment promotes mental wellness through the Jars Institute and the Africa Trauma Care Alliance. The Jars Institute provides an e-learning platform for trauma-informed care and coaching training. The Africa Trauma Care Alliance aims to create a trauma-free life for Africans by bridging gaps in traumatic stress advocacy, awareness, and research. It focuses on supporting those affected by childhood traumas, PTSD, complex traumas, and historical and racial traumas. Through these efforts, we strive to foster healing and resilience across the continent.
Jars Research: Innovative Solutions through Data-Driven Insights
Our Research segment is dedicated to developing an extensive African database to identify and address regional mental health challenges. Collecting and analyzing data, we gain valuable insights into the unique mental health needs across the continent. This comprehensive database allows us to pinpoint specific issues and develop effective, evidence-based solutions tailored to diverse African communities. Our research efforts aim to enhance mental health care, inform policy, and drive innovation, ultimately contributing to a healthier, more resilient Africa.
Jars Care: Comprehensive Prevention and Therapeutic Services
Our Care segment provides comprehensive prevention and therapeutic services through Jars Therapeutics, Asake Centers, and wellness drugs. Jars Therapeutics offers specialized treatments for mental health, while Asake Centers provide safe spaces for healing and support. Additionally, our wellness drugs are designed to enhance mental well-being and aid in recovery. Jars Trauma Awareness Walk
1 in 3 individuals experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. Trauma accounts for a significant portion of these cases. Whether from the toxic stresses of economic recession, political upheavals, wars, communal conflicts, rape, kidnappings, human trafficking, gender-based violence, domestic abuse, or disability, trauma knows no boundaries, affecting individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.
The implications of untreated trauma are persistent, prevalent and pervasive, extending far beyond the realm of mental health. It can erode relationships, hinder academic and professional success, and perpetuate cycles of poverty and inequality.
Furthermore, trauma survivors are at increased risk of physical health problems, including chronic pain, cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune disorders, highlighting the interconnectedness of mind and body. Access to affordable quality mental health care becomes paramount, offering a lifeline to those grappling with the aftermath of trauma and paving the way towards a brighter, more resilient future.
We believe that healing happens when we come together. That is why we started the Mental Health awareness campaign tagged Trauma Care is Community Care and incorporated a community-oriented trauma awareness walk. The Jars Education's annual Traumatic Stress Awareness Walk is more than just an event – it's a powerful statement that trauma care is a collective responsibility, a reminder that no one should suffer alone. It is a powerful reminder that trauma is beatable and treatable.
This year, our theme is Moving Together for Trauma Care. Moving our bodies offers a release of trauma stored as memories in our bodies. There also needs to be movement to create a collective that can make a difference.
In that light of movement and togetherness to break the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and bring hope and light to the scourge of traumatic stress, the walk is being coordinated in various locations across Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Locations include:
- Ibadan, Nigeria
- Lagos, Nigeria
- Kaduna, Nigeria
- Rivers, Nigeria
- Nairobi, Kenya
- Tigray, Ethiopia
- London, United Kingdom
- California, United States, and more locations are being added.
